Baseball Looks To Rebound After Tough Week

New Haven (2-8) lost 15-6 to Community (7-4), 11-2 to Calvary Lutheran (6-4), and 15-0 to Union (13-4) this past week. The Shamrocks wanted to capture their third-season victory but couldn’t against tough teams.

With a week-long break from playing and their next game being on Apr. 19 at Christian High School, New Haven aims to make some tweaks before taking on the second half of their season.

Community

The Shamrocks started their week with a clash against the Trojans on Monday, Apr. 8, where they fell 15-6.

New Haven tallied eight walks, six runs, six hits and 5 RBIs with 27 appearances at-bats.

Ryan Steinbeck had a team-high two hits. He also pulled off two runs, an RBI and a walk.

Michael McFerrin led his squad with 2 RBIs and also drew a walk.

Jacob Gerdes racked up two runs, a hit and a walk.

Reid Lueckenhoff picked up a run, RBI, hit and a walk.

Thomas Wiedemann recorded two walks and an RBI.

Weston Hecktor got two walks and a hit.

Camden Pence punched it home once.

Trevor Hinten grabbed a hit.

Andrew Noelke started for New Haven on the mound in the first six innings and struck out one batter. He surrendered 15 hits, ten earned runs, and 2 walks.

McFerrin stepped onto the mound in the final inning. He delivered a strikeout but gave up five earned runs, four hits and two walks.

Calvary Lutheran

Noelke and Gerdes were New Haven’s only scorers in their 11-2 loss against the Lions on Tuesday, Apr. 9. Noelke also executed two hits and Gerdes took a walk.

McFerrin drove in both of their scores with two RBIs on his two hits

Hecktor led the Shamrocks with three hits.

Lueckenhoff grabbed a hit and a walk.

Austin Bradley and Jace Ritchie each recorded a walk.

Lueckenhoff remained on the mound for New Haven until the bottom of the 4th. He got a strikeout while giving up seven hits, four earned runs and three walks.

Gerdes pitched until the game ended and executed three strikeouts. He surrendered seven hits, two earned runs and two walks.

Union

The Four Rivers Conference leading Wildcats clawed out New Haven 15-0 on Thursday, Apr. 11. The game ended by mercy rule in the bottom of the 4th, and New Haven struggled to make a hit.

Hecktor, Hinten and Lueckenhoff had two at-bat appearances.

Noelke, Gerdes, McFerrin, Bradley, Ritchie and Wiedemann only had one.

Hinten pitched until the bottom of the fourth and had five strikeouts. He allowed 11 earned runs, eight hits, and five walks.

McFerrin came from the bullpen to finish the game. He gave up five hits, four earned runs and a walk.
